Nerve Conduction Blockade Demonstration

Students had the opportunity to perform a Bier Block procedure on their instructor Mr. Hughes in order to demostrate a nerve conduction blockade procedure. Good job Andrew for not blowing my vein out with the IV!

STT 200 Anatomic Model Projects

The sophomores created anatomic model projects of surgical incisions for their Surgical Technology Theory 200 class. The students did a fantastic job depicting the anatomic structures and were very creative in their approach. One in particular tasted great!

Surgical technology is one of the fastest growing professions in the country. Surgical technologists are allied health professionals, who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients in a variety of settings. Surgical technologists work under medical supervision to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. Surgical technologists work under the supervision of a surgeon to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implemention of tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
